METRO-ACCESS BRINGS PARATRANSIT TO D.C.
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's (WMATA) complementary paratransit provider, Metro-Access, began operating on May 16, 1994 throughout the District of Columbia and its Northern Virginia and Maryland suburbs.From its inception, Metro-Access has been shaped by its unique climate: operating alongside a fully accessible fixed-route transit system in two states, one district and five jurisdictions. The article provides some details of this unique system.
