ATT, EUROPE'S IVHS - A STATE OF THE ART OVERVIEW
In the area of ATT (Applied Telematics for Transport) the European name for IVHS, Europe has two major programs running. One is Prometheus, the program of European car manufacturers. This program falls under the Eureka agreement which implies that industries get up to 50 percent funding from their national governments. The other is Drive-2 of the European Union. The European Union is the name the European Committee took after the member states signed the treaty of Maastrict which implies much closer ties between them. Drive-2 falls under the Framework program which implies that funding up to 50 percent is provided by the EU. Drive-2 was preceded by Drive-1, which in its turn was meant as complementary to Prometheus. Both programs will finish more or less at the end of 1994.
