THE MAINTENANCE OF CIVIL ENGINEERING STRUCTURES

This paper deals with maintenance strategies for civil engineering structures. First a description of the current primarily historically grown practice is given. Next a theoretically more advanced approach is formulated and its possible use in the field of civil engineering structures is discussed. Finally, the application of the proposed procedure is demonstrated for the case of a viaduct and sluice.
