DURABILITY DESIGN OF RAIL FASTENING SYSTEM
Rail fastening system is one of the most important components both in conventional track and in slab track. The design criteria based on metal fatigue of spring clip and performance test method in laboratory based on the field data derived under test train running were established to some extent. In the last decade there was a need for train speed up both on Shinkansen and on Cape gauged lines, and in recent years there has been a need for improved durability of track component. In these cases a few new concepts were added to the original criteria and the way of data analysis of test both in laboratory and in field to explain actual property. The strength and durability of fastening system have been predicted more clearly or practically.
