A DECISION SYSTEM FOR SAFETY DRIVING

This paper describes the "decision" module used in the PROLAB1 project. The model is situated between the visualization model, which provides advice to the driver, and the perception model, which provides information about the car and its immediate environment. The "decision" module identifies dynamic state of the vehicle, such as its moment of inertia, or its brake distribution ratio. It also determines the vehicle position on the road, and its relationship with neighbouring vehicles. Once these items are determined it chooses the working mode of the sensors, and determines the advice to be sent to the driver. The model is divided into two sections. The first is a quantitative or numerical section. This determines characteristics such as vehicle spacing and the capacity of the vehicle to carry out a manoeuvre safely.
