EXTENSION OF A MACROSCOPIC SIMULATION MODEL FOR THE EVALUATION OF MOTORWAY ROUTE GUIDANCE SYSTEMS BASED ON MEASUREMENT DATA

This paper describes the developement of a simulation model of motorway route guidance systems for use in assessing system effects. A basic section-orientated macroscopic simulation model was extended to a destination orientated simulation model with both section and interchange traffic modelling . Data was collected from the motorway network north of Munich. Parameters were validated with particular attention paid to the compliance rate of drivers with alternative route recommendations. An average rate of compliance of 30% was observed during the morning rush hour. For the covering abstract see IRRD 866746.
