ion, including a survey of Australian local government authority (LGA) users, of numerous pavement management system (PMS) packages. This paper presents the findings of a follow-up user survey questionnaire conducted in early 1994. The paper compares the 1994 user survey results with those obt and 1994. There are a number of PMSs used by LGAs. They include systems developed by consultants, state road authorities and those developed in-house by individual LGAs. It was found that not one PMS package had an overwhelming share of LGA users. The two most widely used were the RTA-NSW system modules and RAMS version 3.2. The overall level of satisfaction with the majority of PMSs was acceptable. Some PMSs, though, were regarded as fair or poor in certain aspects. Furthermore, the user rating of individual PMSs varied, from which it can be deduced that in some cases the system may not have been meeting user needs.
