IMPROVEMENT OF PROTECTIVE CIRCUITS FOR SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS

Superconducting magnets (SCMs) have protective circuits for guarding themselves in an SCM-accident. But the current flows through the circuit not only for the protection of SCM, but also in the daily energization and de-energization. In order to solve this problem, we have improved this circuit in many ways. But the results are not enough to fulfill the purpose. A new switch, Discharge Tube Switch (DTS), which needs no control device for switching, was introduced. The ability to introduce the DTS in the protective circuit for the SCM was confirmed from the experimental results.
