GEOTEXTILE FOR REINFORCEMENT OF SURFACE DRESSING. ROAD 138, FRANCE, AND ROAD 2, FRENCH GUYANE

This short article describes two tests undertaken to investigate the use of geotextiles for reinforcing surface dressings. The first investigation was into the use of crack resistant surface dressings. The Armaco technique was used. In this technique, the Armaco surface dressing is constructed with a special geotextile and several layers of polymermodified bitumen. The second test investigated the use of reinforced surface dressing in low cost road pavements in French Guyane. The Nadir nonwoven geotextile was used. Brief details of the geotextiles used, the characteristics of the field sites, the tests undertaken and the performance of the pavements after construction are provided. For the covering abstract see IRRD 865821.
