A good analysis of dangerous goods accidents requires that the costs associated with such accidents be well known. This paper describes the process whereby the costs of 90 road and rail accidents were examined in great detail and then used to predict the costs of similar accidents. Some indications of what the data reveals are given. For the covering abstract of this conference, see IRRD 859800.
