ROAD TRAFFIC. THE ROAD VEHICLES (CONSTRUCTION AND USE) (AMENDMENT) (NO.2) REGULATIONS 1987

These regulations amend Statutory Instrument SI 1986 : 1078 in two areas: (1) strengthening the superstructure of single decked coaches; and (2) changes in the requirements for seat belts and their anchorages for goods vehicles, minibuses and coaches. The principal changes to seat belt legislation are: (a) to extend the requirements to fit seat belts and their anchorages to certain seats on coaches, to the front seats of minibuses which carry more than 12 passengers, and to the centre front seats of minibuses, ambulances and motor caravans; and (b) to extend the requirement to fit seat belt anchorages, capable of taking lap belts to heavy goods vehicles. These requirments apply to vehicles first used on of after 1st Oct 1988.
