PACKAGING AND LABELLING OF DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES FOR CONVEYANCE BY ROAD (REVISION 2). CLASSIFICATION, PACKAGING AND LABELLING OF DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES REGULATIONS 1984. APPROVED CODE OF PRACTICE

This Code has been approved by the Health and Safety Commission, with the consent of the Secretaries of State for Employment and for Transport, under Section 16(4) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, to provide practical guidance on regulation 7 of the Classification, Packaging and Labelling of Dangerous Substances Regulations 1984, relating to the packaging and labelling of dangerous substances for carriage by road in the UK. Regulation 7 relates to both supply and conveyance. The Code was prepared through joint consultation between representatives of government departments, local authorities, industry, trade unions, and the Health and Safety Executive. Revision No 2 takes into account changes made to the Recommendations of the United Nations Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods in December 1986. Part 1 of the Code gives general recommendations on the handling of packages. Part 2 covers intermediate bulk containers. Part 3 covers suitable packagings for organic peroxides and other substances. There are three appendices.
