STRESSES, STRAINS AND DEFLECTIONS IN ELASTIC LAYERED SYSTEMS

This report presents a computer program for the calculation of stresses, deformations, deflections and radii of curvature of an elastic layered system subjected to a circular line form load. The lower layer is a half-space. The number of layers can reach 10 or more. The thickness, young modules and Poisson's ratio of each layer can be arbitrarily chosen; the coefficient of friction at each interface is nil or there is no relative tangential displacement. The program calculaties all or some of the following values: stress, tension, main stresses and deformations, maximum shear, deflection and radius of curvature of a horizontal surface subjected to loads, large stresses and deformations of all types in each layer, and stresses and deformations resulting from double loads. The stresses and deformations under a single load can be calculated at any point of the system. Actually, the calculation of deflections and radii of curvature is limited to points where the load axis is located, and the radii of curvature cannot be obtained near the surface. The number of points which can be simultaneously computed, depends only on the capacity of the computer. The program operates on a GE 235 computer in time-sharing. /TRRL/
