The objectives of the San Mateo Computerized Accident Records System project were to develop and implement a consolidated traffic records system. The basic computer system that provides data on accidents, traffic volume, and the street network for traffic accident analysis is the heart of the system. The Administrating Jurisdiction sets policies and selects and supports a source of detailes Cares system management and coordination. System Management and Coordination is the primary operating organization, responsible for the day-to-day operational activities of the system. The Electronic Data Processing support organization provides the facilities to keypunch input data and to exercise the Care computer programs and data files to produce the required output reports. Care cost is based on the actual costs incurred in carrying out the functions of the AJ, the SMC and the EDP, and is prorated among the users. (MW)
