TRAFFIC MONITORING REPORT 1992
Traffic flows on all roads, including motorways and trunk roads, throughout Cambridgeshire is the responsiblity of the County Transportation Department. The report shows the 1992 traffic patterns comparing them with past trends and national statistics. Details are given of rural and urban traffic growths and trends. Route specific flow trends are given for a number of primary routes. Flow to capacity ratios are calculated indicating that several sections of primary and distributor road sections were overloaded. Before and after flows at improvement schemes are monitored to determine their effectiveness. The river Cam screenline and the radial cordon traffic flow growth is given by vehicle type for the city of Cambridge. Pedal cycle flows are compared with all vehicle flows for March 1992. Pedal cycle traffic growth on the river Cam bridge sites is monitored. The traffic growth in the city of Peterborough is also monitored. Details are given of daily and seasonal variations. County and city flow diagrams are given in appendices with details of the annual surveys and actual traffic counts from 1981 to 1992. Trends are shown in the size of heavy goods vehicles in terms of axle numbers.
