RESIDENTIAL ROADS IN AVON. 2ND EDITION. GUIDANCE ON THE DESIGN OF RESIDENTIAL ROAD LAYOUTS TO BE OFFERED FOR ADOPTION IN THE COUNTY OF AVON

The document sets out recommended standards for the layout and design of new roads included within residential developments, to be ultimately adopted by the Highways Authority. This second edition has been rewritten in the light of the second edition of the Design Bulletin 32 (IRRD 848003) and should be read in conjunction with the latest edition of Avon County Council's separate construction specification for new estate roads "Adoption standards for roads in Avon". The work is presented in the following sections: policy; objectives; adoption and off site works agreements; detailed design (including road, cycle track and footway hierarchy, link roads, loop roads, shared surface roads, private drives, junction details, traffic calming measures, public transport, parking and landscaping); and various other matters, including accesses, steps and ramps, drainage, verges, turning spaces, bridleways, street lighting, bollards and kerbing.
