REGULATORY REFORM IN TRANSPORT: SOME RECENT EXPERIENCES. CHAPTER 8. TRUCKING DEREGULATION IN MEXICO
This short article describes the deregulation of the freight industry in Mexico. The legal framework prior to deregulation is described first. This produced a sector divided into two oligopolies, one for regular and the other for specialised cargo. Barriers to entry of either of these oligopolies are presented and discussed. Details of the new (1989) regulations which made deregulation possible are presented. For the covering abstract see IRRD 864463.
