EXPANSION AND UPGRADING WILL RAISE QUALITY STANDARDS

This short article presents brief details of the underground railway in Moscow. The 241.6 km network comprises nine lines. This has 149 stations, 49 of which are interchanges. Details are provided of: a) alignment; b) ridership; c) level of service; d) power required to run the service; and e) staffing. Brief details are also provided of the research and development being carried out to improve the service, and the programme planned for expanding the metro line.
