This article discusses the financing of the cost of Hong Kong's new Airport Railway. Brief details of the alignment and level of service are also provided. The train and coach design are also discussed briefly. Trains will have a maximum speed of 135 km/hr and will draw power from a 1.5kV dc overhead supply. Two major infrastructural differences compared with existing MTRC lines are the use of platform screen doors and a new concept of station design. The screen doors will enable significant savings in air conditioning energy to be made. Station design innovations include more generous use of space and natural lighting.
