ADVANCES IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT ASSIGNMENT MODELLING TECHNIQUES. 'QPT': ENHANCED MODELLING OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT DEMAND CHARACTERISTICS

The paper discusses the potential advances to be incorporated in the new "QPT" package which interfaces with traffic models to estimate the effect of forecast road speeds on road based public transport costs. It also models the effects of the UK deregulate public transport market. Competition is modelled through representation of the extent of departure time coordination. A w variety of fare schemes can be modelled within a single assignmen The pedestrian element of public transport trips is more accurately modelled. Large zones are more robustly modelled, var in walking speeds are allowed for different market segments and the effect of gradient is considered. The program has a link speed factor which can be usd for fine levels of calibration. Ti spent at stops will be explicitly input at mode, operator or service level. Fares can be defined at matrix, operator or servi levels with the ability to distinguish between leg or through fares.
