RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN PARKING CONTROL DEVICES

At the 1992 TRL Parking Seminar (IRRD 853528), Maclennan (IRRD 853529) described various types of parking control equipment and the background against which the UK Department of Transport approves parking control equipment on behalf of the Secretary of State. This paper discusses some of the main developments which have taken place in the intervening period. It describes devices which may be used to accept the initial charge and to control the initial period; it does not cover equipment used for enforcement purposes.
