PLANNING AND DESIGN OF THE OSAKA PORT UNDERSEA TUNNEL

The Third District Port Construction Bureau of the Ministry of Transport is constructing an undersea tunnel by the submergence method in the Port of Osaka. When it is completed in fiscal year 1995, this tunnel will be Japan's first dual-purpose tunnel for both motor vehicles and trains, and one of the few submerged tunnels in the world built by the composite structure method. In this report, the plans, the design conditions and work of this tunnel are explained. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 863480.
