USAGE OF THE DUTCH NATIONAL TRAVEL SURVEY AS A DATABASE FOR ESTIMATING TRIP DISTRIBUTION FUNCTIONS
HET OVG ALS DATABASE VOOR HET INSCHATTEN VAN DISCTRIBUTIEFUNCTIES
With the annual performance of the Dutch National Travel Survey (NTS), an immense set of travel data is available. A database has been formed combining 5 years NTS data. The aim is to extract specific information on trips according to the trip classification of the New Regional Model (NRM) system. By combining these trips with a network, it is technically possible to estimate regional distribution functions for these trip segments. Using the regional model for the province of North Brabant, a number of tests have been carried out to explore whether the estimation procedure is successful. Results show good possibilitites for the flexible classification of trips and the estimation of distribution parameters for these trip types using NTS data.
