INFRARED LASER WAVE HEIGHT SENSOR

The National Data Buoy Center operates a network of remote, unmanned meteorological data acquisition/transmission stations, known as the Coastal-Marine Automated Network (C-MAN), which are located on various coastal land and fixed offshore platforms. This paper describes a diode-laser-based ocean wave height sensor developed for use at C-MAN stations for the measurement of wave height and period.
