A SYSTEMS APPROACH TO DEVELOPING AN AUTOMATED SHIP HULL COMPONENTS WAREHOUSE

The improvement of shipbuilding labor productivity is integrally related to the processes of mechanization and automation and to bettering production organization. In relation to the latter task, an automated ship hull components warehouse has been developed, using a systems approach, and is described. The function of the warehouse is to perform transportation and handling operations, including: receiving components; sorting them into containers; stacking and bundling; storing assembly kits; and delivering components on time to the shops where they are needed.
