ANALYSIS OF PROPELLER INDUCED PRESSURE FLUCTUATIONS
A procedure is described that is intended to provide the designer with information on whether it is advisable or necessary to carry out an extensive dynamic analysis of existing propeller induced pressure fluctuations. The procedure is based on an estimation of the longitudinal vibration amplitude of the bridge deck resulting from propeller-induced pressure fluctuations. The method of the estimation is derived from data given in the literature and from one's own measurements. Vibration velocities evaluated in this way are compared with limit values. The method does not consider deckhouse reasonances and excitation from the machinery. A procedure for a separate treatment of these influences is outlined.
