ON THE NUMERICAL SOLUTION OF THE TURBULENT FLOW-FIELD PAST DOUBLE SHIP HULLS AT LOW AND HIGH REYNOLDS NUMBERS

Turbulent flow calculations were carried out for the SSPA 720 double hull model at low and high Reynolds numbers. The partially parabolic algorithm was adopted to solve the complete momentum equations, and a kappa-epsilon model was used for the Reynolds stress modeling. At the low Reynolds number, results for a whole field solution were compared to those obtained by experimental input amidships. Comparisons were also made between low and high Reynolds calculations, and conclusions were derived with regard to scaling laws for ship resistance prediction.
