POWDER COATINGS AND THEIR APPLICATION TO MARINE USE

The increasing use of thermosetting powders has been accelerated by the need to reduce air and water pollution. In addition, with the rising costs of basic raw materials and labor and waste disposal, powder coatings are often commercially advantageous in comparison with conventional industrial liquid paints. The nature of powder coatings and their current position in the worldwide and U.S. markets is described. Details are given on the classification, manufacture, application techniques and uses of powder coatings, with emphasis on their use in marine environments. A description and illustration are given of a typical production plant, and powder coatings spray booth.
