USE OF EXPOXY COATINGS EXPANDS FOR FIELD REPAIR, SURFACE PROTECTION

The 1980s saw considerable advances in the technology of epoxy coatings, significantly improving their chemical and mechanical properties. In an environment where economic pressures increasingly dictate the repair of damaged power plant components in lieu of replacement, there is a growing use of such coatings for surface protection and the field repair of many low-temperature power plant components. The applications discussed are in the areas of fuel storage and processing, cooling water systems, demineralizer systems, particulate collection equipment, and flue-gas desulfurization equipment.
