CHEMICAL CLEANING STEAM TURBINE RESTORES OUTPUT, SLASHES COST

Losses resulting from the deposition of insoluble compounds along the steam path of a high-pressure turbine can be remedied without dismantling the turbine for grit blasting. A chemical-injection method is described that can accomplish this, cutting costs by 90 percent.
