ON THE FREE RESPONSE OF PROPELLER BLADES

An iterative scheme is used to study the free vibration of a rotating ship propeller blade that is idealized as a cantilever beam with a variable airfoil-shaped cross section. The influence of pitch angle, shear deflection, rotary inertia and rotation speed is examined. Excellent agreement is shown with results available in the literature and with results obtained using a finite element method.
