SOME HUMAN FACTORS ASPECTS OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE

The present status of emergency medical care was examined to identify areas in which specific contributions by human factors specialists are needed. The field of equipment design was considered the most potentially fruitful, and the cardiac defibraillator was selected as an example of complex emergency medical equipment. Some human factors aspects of the cardiac defibrillator were explored and it was concluded that this device is one of many medical devices which could be improved by the application of human factors techniques. /Author/
