DIESEL AND TURBINE COMBINED IN MARINE AUXILIARY POWER UNIT

MAN B&W Holeby in Denmark has developed a unique cost-saving combination diesel and power turbine auxiliary marine generator set for shipboard use. The configuration is claimed to save 50% and more in the cost of shipboard electricity production. The description of the CODAG genset is accompanied by tables and diagrams analyzing the cost savings, listing the combinations available, showing comparative first costs, and illustrating the general layout and the turbine power transmission and control system.
