A NUMERICAL STUDY OF WATER ENTRY OF TWO-DIMENSIONAL SHIP-SHAPED BODIES

The finite difference method is used to numerically simulate the flow fields around a two-dimensional ship-shaped body that is entering water vertically at constant velocity. Using the cross section of the bow of a typical container ship, pressure distribution on the surface of a two-dimensional model is also measured and compared with calculated results.
