DEVELOPMENTS IN CARGO ACCESS SYSTEMS DURING THE LAST DECADE

This paper starts from the premise that the ship is intended for the market and thus has to function in accordance with what the market requires. It therefore follows that the cargo access system also has to satisfy the market requirements of the ship. The first section of the paper briefly discusses the market forces at work in the past decade and the anticipated future tendencies. The second section reviews the most significant developments in cargo access systems in recent years. Finally, the paper addresses some future directions in cargo access equipment (CAE) technology.
