A MULTI-SITE POWER PLANT VIBRATION MONITORING AND ANALYSIS SYSTEM
A centrally-controlled multiple-site power plant vibration monitoring system that has been installed at a major power utility within the U.S. is described. The GenRad Integrated Test and Analysis System, running the Radian MIDAS software, includes long- distance remote control of data acquisition and communication; daily automatic sequential sampling of all health monitoring parameters; manual sampling and analysis by both in-plant and central engineering facility personnel; and transient recording and analysis of startup or shutdown conditions. A technical description is given of the system's capabilities and several examples showing the operational environment are provided.
