LLOYD'S LAUNCHES EXHAUST EMISSION ANALYSIS
The extent of emissions from marine diesel engines is a matter of some debate in national forums. It is told how Lloyd's Register has undertaken a study that aims to develop an independent and trustworthy database that will provide a first approximation of the extent of this emission problem. The database will also serve as a basis for future work by identifying problem areas, and as a basis for any future limits or restrictions that may be imposed. The study is being conducted in the expectation that both the IMO and the North Sea Council of Ministers will be introducing legislation on exhaust gas emissions from ships.
