POLISH LINER SHIPPING AND THE NEW ECONOMIC POLICY--GENERAL REMARKS ON THE ECONOMIC CHANGES IN SHIPPING

Following an introductory summary of how liner shipping has fared in Europe since the 1970s, this paper turns to the present situation in Polish liner shipping, including fleet composition and container capacity, and the expansion of the Polish ferry system. The remainder of the paper is devoted to briefly describing pre- investment studies that have been carried out to investigate multimodal systems for Poland. These research and analytical studies deal with the denomination of quality and needed quantity of programmed tonnage, and are often concerned with the determination of basic ship's parameters.
