MARINE AUXILIARY ENGINE TECHNOLOGY ON LARGE CONTAINER SHIPS
Although both smaller and larger engines in the 4-stroke engine program of MAN B&W Diesel A/S, Denmark, can be and have been delivered as auxiliary diesel engines for ships, the frontline technology in GenSet applications is concentrated around the company's 23 and 28 type of engine. This technology and its implementation--a prerequisite for which is heavy fuel burning--is reviewed by the author, and further possibilities are noted.
