FORMS: AN INTERACTIVE GRAPHIC TOOL FOR THE HULL DESIGNER

A software package called FORMS is described that assists the designer in efficiently calculating, drawing and defining hull form. The paper outlines the program's main features as: a graphic interactive fairing of the body plan shown on the digital tablet; color visualization and parametrization of the body; producibility of drawings; and interactive data preparation for hydrostatic calculations. Other characteristics of the software are: use of the Graphic Kernel System standard, screen split capability, and flexibility and integrability with other modules. As the initial stages of design precipitate continual modifications, this package simultaneously transfers and adjusts the hydrostatic data relevant to a defined hull form.
