BREAK-BULK CARGO-HANDLING IN NIGERIAN PORTS--PROBLEMS, PROSPECTS AND THE FUTURE
The Nigerian Ports Authority is an autonomous public corporation intended to be financially self-supporting. Its break-bulk cargo- handling operations are discussed under topical headings that cover the historical development of the country's ports; the impact of economic activities on the ports from 1975 to 1980; port infrastructures; port congestion; labor productivity; the effect of technological change on dock labor; port productivity; and future prospects for break-bulk cargo handling.
