PAMPERING THE PASSENGERS

Cruise ship operators have moved on from traditional markets and found a sophisticated new clientele who demand even more complex shipboard amenities. Electronics are the key, and some of the systems in use are described. They provide packages that encompass all areas of need for the ship operation: entertainment, communication, information, management, and security. Cruise operators also typically work with hardware and software developers to customize existing land-based systems for hotel operations, point-of-sale and distribution of voice, data, text and video signals.
