TESTING OPTIC CABLE CONDUITS FOR VIBRATION RESISTANCE

When designing shipboard control and data transmission systems involving fiber-optic-cable communication lines, allowance must be made for the dynamic characteristics of those lines. Equations are presented for calculating the power spectrum and correlation function of the interference that worsens the signal-to-noise ratio in such optical communication channels. The equations can be used to evaluate the reliability of the information being transmitted along fiber-optic cables under actual operating conditions.
