DESIGN OF SMALL INLAND COMMERCIAL VESSELS

There are few design models for small inland commercial vessels to be found in the literature. This paper helps remedy that situation, presenting consolidated design models developed, collected and arranged for self-powered inland cargo vessels and for pusher tugs. The design models that were developed make use of regression analysis of the data of existing vessels and are suitable for computerization and optimization. Experience over a four-year period with the vessel designs generated by the models have demonstrated the reliability of the models' predictions.
