PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF COATING APPLICATIONS

This article outlines some of the events that take place in coating application that are not usually considered but that can influence the effectiveness of the finished coating. Some of these are: the work of sand grains in cleaning a surface, the formation of a coating on a surface by brushing, the velocity and direction of spray particles, and the impact of the coating particle on the surface. These factors all directly influence the adhesion and effectiveness of the coating.
