SHIPS' ANCHORS
The stock-type of ship's anchor that was formerly so widely used is contrasted with the largely stockless types employed on modern ships. Photographs illustrate three different types of these stockless anchors. The exacting requirements that anchors must meet to gain certification for use from a classification society such as Lloyd's Register of Shipping are described.
