AN ALTERNATIVE INDICATOR OF CAVITATION INCEPTION FOR VENTURI FLOW

Based on the statistical characteristics of pressure pulsations from a cavitating Venturi flow, it was found that the low-frequency fluctuations associated with cavitation are a distinctive feature that can be considered as an alternative indirect method to determine the cavitation inception point. Experimental results, using a real-time computer system, are presented along with a preliminary theoretical analysis.
