A THEORETICAL METHOD FOR PREDICTING THE HYDRODYNAMIC PERFORMANCES OF PROPELLER-RUDDER INTERACTION

A theory for the prediction of unsteady hydrodynamic performance of propeller-rudder interaction is developed, and a numerical method based on the theory is proposed. The authors emphasize that this method applies harmonic analysis instead of iteration, thus avoiding the convergence problem. Comparison of theoretical predictions with experimental measurements indicate generally satisfactory agreement, although shortcomings are noted.
