SOME CONSIDERATIONS ON THE APPLICATION OF FLUX-CORED ARC WELDING IN SHIPBUILDING

This paper describes the main features of the flux-cored arc welding process, with emphasis on the use of self-shielded flux-cored electrodes as an efficient alternative for welding high-strength and low-alloy steels that are used in shipbuilding and in offshore structures. There is also some discussion of the metallurgical aspects of welded joints.
