This article reproduces a paper presented at the Gastech '88 Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It describes the mechanism of ammonia stress corrosion cracking and reports on experiments carried out to obtain data on the combined effect of oxygen and water on ammonia stress corrosion cracking for different materials.
